At the first event journalist and documentary maker Jon Ronson discussed his experiences researching his book Them: Adventures with Extremists and Channel 4 TV series The Secret Rulers of the World, with particular focus on Conspiracy Culture. Jon screened footage from his Channel 4 series to illustrate his talk.

Alex JonesScreening: Alex Jones
 
Alex Jones is an outspoken radio talk show host and conspiracy theorist based in the US. He memorably featured in several episodes of Jon Ronson's 'The Secret Rulers of the World' series, infiltrating Bohemian Grove and describing David Icke as a "turd in the punch bowl" of conspiracy theorists. We screened a compilation of clips showing Alex at his best confronting the foot-soldiers of the New World Order!

About Jon Ronson:
A writer and documentary film maker, Jon Ronson began his journalistic career as an award-winning columnist for Time Out. He wrote the popular Human Zoo column and continues to write for the Guardian's Weekend magazine. He also produced the Radio 4 documentary Hotel Auschwitz. Jon made the multi-award-winning Tottenham Ayatollah, New Klan, New York to California (A Great British Odyssey), Dr Paisley, I Presume, the four-part series Critical Condition, and the late-night chat show For The Love Of... all for Channel 4. For BBC2 he made the six part series The Ronson Mission. His book, Them: Adventures With Extremists was published by Picador in Spring 2001 and his five part Channel 4 series the Secret Rulers of the World was broadcast throughout May 2001.
 
About David V Barrett:
An ex GCHQ employee, David is a journalist and regularly contributor to The Independent, Fortean Times and Interzone. He's the author of "New Believers: Sects, Cults, and Alternative Religions" and "Secret Societies" amongst many other books. He's currently at the LSE studying for a Phd in "Cults, Sects and New Religions" under the tutorship of Eileen Barker.
 
About Ken Hollings:
Is the author of "Destroy all Monsters" an apocalyptic retelling of recent world events, featuring insane conspiracy theories, cool post-modern insights and huge quantities of mindless blood-spattered violence. Based in London, Ken writes regularly for Bizarre, Sight & Sound and The Wire. His work also appears in the St Martins Press anthologies, The Last Sex and Digital Delirium, and his essay 'In the Slaughterhouse of Love' is included in the Georges Bataille volume My Mother, Madame Edwarda and the Dead Man, published by Marion Boyars.
