Pestival week will be a hive of activity. We expect the venue to be crawling with, random performances, sudden music and plenty of real live insects!

The Insect Circus and their travelling museum will be on site all day Saturday 27, Sunday 28 and Monday 29 May.

Our urban apiarist Steve Benbow will demonstrate his beekeeping skills and introduce the Barnes bees. They'll be there at 12.30 and 2pm on Saturday 27 May.

Until Monday 29 May. Rainforest Yurt from Amazon Alive will feature live insects – a Chilean Rose tarantula, an Imperial scorpion, a Giant Millepede, a Giant Carribean Winged Cockroach and a Giant Madagascar Hissing Cockroach – talks on Amazon plants, animals and indigenous tribes, plus live rainforest music! The Phasmid Study Group and the British Tarantula Society will be on hand on Sunday 29 May with their favourite sticky and hairy friends!

Tina McCallan's Ambush Bug project lands on Sunday 29 and Monday 30 May. As a marker of the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, Pestival visitors are invited to recreate Cornelia Hesse-Honegger's painting (left) of a deformed Ambush Bug found near a nuclear reactor in The USA.

Wormery demonstrations and sales – worms for all the family!

Workshops and games for kids (including "Ants in Your Pants", and "Bees in Your Bonnet"), insect-themed tours and nature rambles around the Wetland Centre will take place throughout the week.
