Tues 2nd April 2002, 7:30pm Horse Hospital, London.   Screening: Alternative 3 This faux-documentary is a crank classic which has fooled thousands over the years. It was originally scheduled to be screened on April 1st 1977 here in the UK but wasn't actually broadcast until June 20th 1977 due to scheduling difficulties. It was the final show in a documentary series called "Science Report". The show featured an investigation of a conspiracy between the superpowers to plant human colonies on other planets. At the time many viewers mistook the prank for a factual documentary. A later novel by Leslie Watkins based on the screenplay extended the confusion and enriched the Alternative 3 myth, enshrining it as a major strand of modern conspiracy theory.
