Tom Bolton

Tom Bolton is a writer and researcher whose work explores cities, landscapes, and cultural life. He is the author of five books: Low Country: Brexit on the Essex Coast; Camden Town: Dreams of Another London; Vanished City: London’s Lost Neighbourhoods; and London’s Lost Rivers: A Walker’s Guide (Volumes 1 and 2). Alongside his books, he writes essays on theatre and music, extending his interest in place into performance and sound.

He manages research projects and design review panels for Frame Projects. Previously, he was an academic researcher at the Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL, where he completed a PhD on London’s railway terminus neighbourhoods and taught across a range of courses. His wider experience includes work as an urban policy researcher with Centre for Cities, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), and the National Trust. He also gives talks and leads walks for universities, societies, festivals, special events, and private groups.
